Calling for recommendations!

If you can't tell by now, we're thinking of having a Tiffany themed wedding. I've always loved the signature Tiffany blue, and I think it's a gorgeous colour. The white ribbon details on that robin-egg blue is simple, modern and elegant all at the same time.

We're still in a dilemma with regards to the venue for the solemnization ceremony though. For a Sunday wedding in Singapore, it's almost impossible to hold the ceremony at a church. The only other places I've searched that can hold 350+ guests are outdoor places like Botanical Gardens, Fort Canning, HortPark, etc. and hotels. An outdoor wedding is risky and subject to unpredictable weather, especially to the heat and rain in our tropical country. Hotels are expensive, and you'd pay almost as much as you would for the dinner (which we're having separately). I've looked at other places like museums, the Arts House, etc, but they're all not big enough to accommodate the amount of guests we want to invite. If anyone knows of suitable venues we'd really appreciate your suggestions! (Just leave a comment)

Also, does anyone know of a good photographer who does engagement/pre-wedding photoshoots? Wallace and I are thinking of doing an outdoor photoshoot for fun, but not burn a hole in our pockets on it either, since they're not the actual wedding photos.
Recommendations for this would be greatly appreciated as well! :)

  1. Chijmes should be able to fit 300 sit down, i'm guessing... otherwise, some churches might be able to do sunday afternoons which is not a bad idea then after that you can straightaway leave for wedding dinner from there.

as for photographer, what is your budget and requirements/idea? email me if you like - islandthots@gmail.com

  2. Lizzy! :) Are you thinking of holding just a wedding and reception with no wedding dinner - is that why you need a place that can hold 300+ guests? Or you just need that amount for the wedding itself? I think some churches are possible for Sunday afternoons.
As for pre-wedding photoshoots I know 2 people I can recommend to you! :) Just whatsapp me and I will intro you to them!
One has been a pre-wedding and wedding photographer for at least 5 years I think here is his fb page - http://www.facebook.com/pages/EyeDeas-Photography/16253572012. He's quite well known in the photography field in Singapore I think he was invited to take wedding pictures for some famous HK celebrity couple this year. I can introduce him to you, then maybe you can get discount ;) EyeDeas is his company. he's the one I gave my cat to!
Another one is this friend of mine from poly he is part of this company that does shoots as well - http://www.facebook.com/touchstudios.singapore. He's not the owner so dont' think can get any special prices from him haha.
Personally I feel EyeDeas is better haha..

Wedding venues, maybe I can check out with my brother or other friends who've been married already and ask them. Or worst come to worst you gotta hold your wedding on a Saturday lol. But like I said shouldn't be too hard to get a church venue for a Sunday afternoon.
I probably won't check your response here, so just whatsapp me k? <3

  5. i have 2 recommendations for photos (they are my friends).
    1) bryan http://bryankamphoto.smugmug.com/
    2) ivan

bryan is newish but i think he has a good eye. he himself is also engaged and getting married Jul next year. he has had some casual shots done with his fiancee so i'm sure he knows how it is like for both of you. he used http://www.lumierephotographysg.com/ for his casual shots.

ivan is experienced and does photography as part time. he has brought people to bali, australia (brisbane too) to take their pre wedding shots. i remember those photos were gorgeous. i don't have the links to the photos right now.

lastly, i have a friend who is willing to give away her online vouchers which she bought to take photos of her kids' birthday but did not use. she has 2 vouchers of 1 hour each.

if you're interested, drop me an email.

  6. For photography, try

Terence Heng is experienced with good artistic style. Not the Taiwan style where the girl look super white with unreal perfect complexion.

Dunno if Wesley Loh still doing weddings. Remember the large posters along the corridors of ACJC ? Wesley shot them.

If if want to save some moolah, get Char and Kegan to do your fun shots. Kegan is getting better but Char won't let me see her unedited shots!
